Mental health training for disability support teams.

Your support workers are often the first person there when a client becomes unwell. This nationally recognised course gives them the skills to respond, and to look after themselves afterwards.

We come to you, on your roster, 7 days a week, in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. And there's no minimum group size.

What your staff walk away with

Your support workers see a lot: a client who suddenly withdraws or becomes distressed, a family carer at breaking point, a colleague who comes back quiet after a hard shift on their own. Most handle it on instinct. This course gives that instinct a framework, and a certificate to go with it.

  • How to notice early signs of distress in clients, in colleagues and in themselves

  • The confidence to start a supportive conversation, and what to say when someone has shut down

  • Clear steps for referring someone to the right help, inside and outside your organisation

  • Simple, realistic ways to recover after a tough shift

Why disability services choose ETS

We come to you No need to send staff offsite. We deliver training at your workplace, on your schedule, 7 days a week.

We tailor every session We don't deliver one-size-fits-all training. Every session is contextualised to your team — their roles, their experience level, and the specific challenges they face in your setting.

Our trainers are from the industry Your staff will be trained by people who understand the care sector from the inside. That means relevant scenarios, real language, and training that actually sticks.

How the course works

11244NAT Course in Mental Health Support for First Responders. In care, the first responder is the carer who is there when someone isn't okay.

  • Online learning first: up to about 3 hours in the student portal, done in their own time

  • A 2-hour hands-on workshop at your workplace. A workshop, not a PowerPoint.

  • Assessment: a case study, two practical scenarios and a short written assessment

  • A nationally recognised certificate that doesn't need renewing

  • From $100 per person. We'll give you an exact quote once we know your numbers and roster.
